this week::camping fun

We spent the week camping with some friends and had a great time. We have done a lot of camping over the years, but have never been to this park. It was great. Even though it was hot – like over 100 degrees hot. There was a river that you can usually go tubing down, but since it was so low we just swam in it. It was barely moving so even the babies had a good time. It was perfect for us. There was even a “jumping tree”, which was a very tall cypress tree that had a branch hanging over the river in a spot that was about 7 ft. deep. There was great fun jumping into the river, feet first of course.

So, this week we…

…hung out with our friends who we haven’t seen in a while, esp. the first day since it was rainy

…took to calling Josiah “Einstein” because of his new do

…played in the river as much as possible

…went to Six Flags to have some fun

…slept outside under the stars because, “Mom, it’s just so beautiful out here.”

…slept outside to see if we could catch a raccoon in action – unfortunately 9 year old boys can’t stay awake as late as a raccoon can

…learned that “glowing sticks” can be used to make all kinds of fun jewelry

We had a week of really doing nothing. I got some books read and we listened to a couple of really good audio books. It was truly a relaxing week.

Thanks for sharing with your friends!

yeah, the flip flops were a little big for the raccoon. But he sure enjoyed the peanuts that got left out. I slept safe and soundly in the tent, but the boys slept outside.

It looks like a really enjoyable time was had by all. I see the flip flops didn't fit the raccoon's feet. It probably wasn't it's style either.

Now you have me wanting to camp. Did you actually sleep outside? Or were you in a tent?
