Summer Projects {Girl’s Room Reveal}

I’ve been trying to work on my list of summer projects and I’m doing pretty good. Most of my time has been taken up with the garden and preserving produce. But our garden is winding down and we had a couple of days of rain so I didn’t need to water the garden so I took the opportunity to tackle the girls’ room.

We’ve worked on the room a little over the past year. Here’s how it looked soon after we moved in.  Then we bought lime green curtains.

Here’s how it looks today (well, when I took the pics it’s not really this tidy right now)…

I love the color of the walls, it’s Blue Dusk from Olympic. It’s so clean and refreshing looking. We took the girls’ pillow sham to Hobby Lobby to and bought acrylic paint to paint the bed, the chair and the fronts of the drawers.

We made the memo board and the pink and green P and E when we made the silhouettes for Phoebe’s dance friends.

I found the prince sign when I was wondering around Hobby Lobby and wouldn’t you know it was 50% off that week. I love it.

So actually painting this room wasn’t on my list but I’m so glad we did it.

Are you working on summer projects? Leave a link in the comments so we can enjoy them, too.

I love it, especially the front drawers.

Summer projects? I really don't have any but I did do some re-arranging in Elizabeth's room and my sewing room. Both rooms really needed to be organized better. We made good progress but nothing as fancy as your progress :O)

The girls probably feel like they have a brand new room now. So happy for them!

Thanks, Patty. They do feel like they have a new room. The painted furniture was Phoebe's idea. I have a fear of color. I'm always afraid I won't get the combo right and it will be overwhelming. So we compromised on just the drawer fronts.

Oh, I wish I had a sewing room to rearrange...

As a daddy, I have to appreciate that sign. I hope my girls keep thinking of me that way. Should it fade when they are teenagers, I hope it comes back in time.

The room looks fantastic!

My husband really liked it, too. I don't think it will fade when they're teenagers. My oldest daughter is 13 and she still feels like that - granted we're just beginning the teen years with her. I think as long as you stay open and available to your kids the teen year are a blessing - at least that's been the case with our older boys (19,17,15).
