Last summer I one of the things I wanted to do was to update our bathroom. We only have one and a half bathrooms so the main bathroom gets a lot of use and needed a little more storage. So I built some short shelves to put in there.
I’ve been wanting to paint since we moved in two and a half years ago but I couldn’t decide what to do with the paneling. I love the paneling that was in there. I love the natural feel and look of it. I think it’s pretty. But there was some water damage that I just couldn’t fix and it really bothered me. So, I did what I always do when I can’t make a decision…nothing.
Then we had this crazy weekend scheduled with a graduation party on Saturday and then a baby shower on Sunday at our home. That was the motivation I needed to make a decision. We decided to paint the paneling. (Along with the whole rest of the house) I’m kind of sad about it but it really does look so much better.
The bathroom is so much brighter and fresher feeling. I used Valspar Homestead Resort Parlour Taupe for the walls and Olympic Delicate White for the trim. I’m really loving these two colors together. You might notice that our clock that looks like a ship’s window has been replaced with a framed print. The clock fell a while back and the glass broke. So until we can figure out a way to replace the glass it’s been put away.
I love this print from HopeInk. I know it doesn’t really go with our nautical theme but the colors go and I love this scripture.
Eventually I’d like to redo the floor and the counter top but that’s probably years a way. Right now, I’m just enjoying the light airy bathroom.
What are some of your summer projects?
