We meet on Thursdays and this year Valentine's Day falls on a Thursday. How cool is that? So, we're having little party after co-op. Which, of course, means lots of candy. But we always like to give a few non candy treats, too.
So, Esther and I made heart crayons. We made enough for everyone. I'm sure the older kids will just give them to their the younger ones, that's ok.
Start with some extra crayons. You can use all those broken ones that irritate you or some of the excess you bought when they were 25 cents a box in August.
Start pealing and breaking. This is a little confusing for the kids who hear "don't break your crayons" from mom. Mom may have to walk away from the table and just let the kids go at it. Fill each tin at least half way up.
Bake at 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes until just melted. Don't walk away. Try not to jiggle them too much taking them out of the oven.
Cool completely and then pop out of muffin tin. This is where using a silicone pan comes in handy.
Sweep the floor, wipe the table...enjoy!

So fun :) I made a few of these with my kids a while ago to use up all the broken crayons in our stash, but they would make a great valentine too.
ReplyDeleteCute idea! Who doesn't end up with a bunch of little broken random crayons at some point too. This would be great for them.

Love it! Perfect for the little nubs of crayons you always end up with. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is super cute! I'd love it of you'd link this on Friday at Family Fun Friday at: http://happyandblessedhome.com/category/family-fun/ I post and share with a MOPS group and FB group of 300+ women and I think they would really like this.
ReplyDeleteDo you color with them afterwards? My son would love it!
Thanks so much!
