The guys having a man meeting about electrical currents. Gabriel was on the other side of the yard clipping wire to fencing.
Here are "the girls" as my mom calls them. They have about an acre of roaming area but they really like staying up near the gate. They're sweet goats. My mom has names for all of them.
For a variety of reasons, we decided not to till into the ground. So I brought 2"X12" boards for the beds. I also brought some of our mushroom and chicken compost. We also used store bought soil to completely fill them up. If I were doing this for us I would have just had someone deliver a truck load of soil. But I wanted this to be a surprise for my mom so we just ran up to Walmart and bought bagged soil.
Carl had to some to our rescue at one point. We weren't paying attention and put the board on with the screws to the inside. We had put the screws in each board - just a little bit- before assembling the box. That and I stripped the screws and the drill bit...
Before we left, Josiah and Esther played a game of "keep away" with my mom's dog. Up and down the steps he went...
It was fun to be able to do something nice for my mom and her husband. They've been really generous to us and it's not often we get to do something that is a complete surprise for them.
Are you getting ready for spring?

Times with family are so precious. I wish I lived closer to mine. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you did, too. We only live a couple of hours away but it seems that we don't get to visit as often as we'd like. The older I get the more I treasure our family time.
DeleteThis idea might work on a deck that we have that gets very little use. I'm following you via GFC. I host Fluster Creative Muster Party on Wednesdays and I would love it if you would come by and party with us. Hope to see you there!

It probably would. If you try it, let me know how it turns out.
